Innovation at the heart of Tournaire’s aluminum packaging
The manufacturing of aluminum packaging relies on several industrial processes that ensure the reliability, quality, and performance of our packaging solutions.
Tournaire continuously innovates in its products to meet future needs in terms of ecology, recyclability, and customer services.
We offer the widest range of approved aluminum packaging in the world.
To maintain this position, the company must remain at the forefront of technology by constantly innovating in its industrial manufacturing processes. Each product range and each closure requires a dedicated process, specifically developed and designed for our products.
A unique industrial site in Grasse and more than 20 manufacturing processes
Our single manufacturing site in Grasse incorporates more than twenty different production processes. With the growth of our activity and the development of our expertise, we have worked on and improved four processes to make them exclusive to Tournaire.
To make this possible, we have our own mechanical workshop capable of producing our tools and machines in-house, as well as our engineering departments, experts in our know-how.
Specialists in our various fields of expertise ensure the mastery of our processes and allow us to continuously improve, strengthen reliability, and increase efficiency.
Our industrial capabilities can work with pure aluminum as well as aluminum sourced from sustainable supply chains or recycled materials.
200 years of expertise in aluminum transformation
Over the 200 years of Tournaire’s existence, we have developed unique expertise in:
- Aluminum forming
- Machining and cutting

Industrial processes for manufacturing aluminum packaging at Tournaire
The depth of our product range is made possible by our numerous production lines.
Aluminum impact extrusion for small diameters
- Four extrusion lines enable us to manufacture product ranges with diameters from 26 to 88 mm.
- The aluminum slug is struck using a press to form a cup.
- The container body is then formed through several multi-stage necking operations, followed by finishing processes where the neck is shaped to accommodate the container closure.
- Our extrusion lines operate at high production speeds and enable large-scale manufacturing.
Deep drawing for large aluminum packaging volumes
- Large containers with diameters from 120 to 300 mm are produced on our three deep drawing lines.
- The aluminum disc, the base of our work, is deep drawn on our presses and precisely calibrated.
- The neck is then formed by mandrel-free spinning, a process derived from Tournaire’s specific expertise.
- Neck finishing on our machines allows us to diversify our ranges and create neck openings from 28 mm up to 220 mm in diameter. This enables us to offer numerous approved product ranges designed for the most complex and demanding markets.
Washing of monobloc packaging
- Our washing processes allow us to control product cleanliness through chemical treatments including degreasing and pickling, followed by multiple rinsing stages to optimize container cleanliness and quality.
- After drying, a plastic sleeve may be assembled when required.
For OMNI PLUS® ranges, assembly is no longer necessary, as the threads are formed directly in the aluminum, making the product monobloc and fully recyclable.

OMNI PLUS®:
An eco-designed and 100% recyclable range, developed to anticipate today the environmental and regulatory requirements of tomorrow.
