Chemical compatibility between a product and its packaging is a key factor in preserving the integrity, quality, and performance of the contents throughout its lifecycle. It is based on the selection of materials, closure solutions, and a potential internal coating, in order to meet the strictest technical, regulatory, and usage requirements.
The chemical compatibility of a product with its container is essential to ensure that the product retains its original properties, without any alteration that could reduce its performance, its organoleptic properties, its food-grade compliance, etc.
A MATTER OF MATERIAL
In terms of neutrality and chemical compatibility, not all materials are equal. Tournaire has selected high-quality materials that have been known for decades for their neutrality: aluminum and stainless steel. In order to benefit from their properties, we select the best grades: 1050 and 1070 for aluminum (considered pure aluminum) and 316L for stainless steel. This commitment to the highest-quality materials is at the core of our products’ performance.

DISCOVER OUR RANGESCLOSURE
Aside from the container, it is important to consider the closure system, and in particular the gasket that is in direct contact with the product. Depending on the technical constraints of the product, such as its volatility or chemical aggressiveness, its usage (for example, food-grade or injectable), and its manufacturing process (such as sterilization), Tournaire offers a wide range of solutions. Our experts are ready to guide you in selecting the best technical solution based on your constraints.
COATING
Using an inner coating is an interesting option, but it is not always an easy one, depending on the product. Indeed, when considering chemical compatibility, regulations, and coatings without Bisphenol A (BPA) or PFAS, the choice of an appropriate coating can be complex. Relying on decades of experience and expertise, Tournaire can help you find the right compromise. For instance, Tournaire has been offering BPA-free options for many years.
