Interview with Franck Bardini: Total strategic rethink for Tournaire’s Equipment Division
Why are you talking about a total strategic rethink for the Division you manage?
Franck Bardini :In a sector like that of industrial equipment we are often dealing with a scattered, fragmented market. In this environment, Tournaire’s Equipment Division is the only supplier that can operate right across the board, designing a complete production process with premium solutions and offering, thanks to its unique engineering capabilities, customized turnkey equipment that corresponds precisely to the expectations and needs of its clients. .
At the same time we have noted that the needs of this market are continually changing, in search of further economies of scale, ever-greater respect for the environment thanks to installations that consume less energy, increasing yields, and very specific integrated service offerings throughout the whole service life of installations.
This is why, so as to better anticipate and more fully respond to market expectations, Luc Tournaire, Chairman of the Management Board, asked me to undertake a far-reaching audit of the Equipment Division’s processes and modes of operation. The conclusions of this audit, which lasted 8 months, have enabled us to define a new strategic orientation focused on five priorities:
What are your ambitions today?
Today we have begun to reorganize the Equipment Division. Our goal, our ambition and our desire is to further enhance the strengths of our organization and align our methods and processes with the level of demand of our clients and the values of our workforce, which is dynamic, efficient and adaptable. To support our clients still more effectively and enable them to produce excellence a large number of changes are currently being implemented, such as the development of services linked to equipment manufacture and commissioning: installation diagnosis, upstream audit of expertise and programmed preventive maintenance. Even more than in the past, our Division is now in a position to respond to all the demands of a demanding and constantly changing market. Our ambition is to double our sales in 2016 and increase client satisfaction to still higher levels.
What resources do you have available?
First, I know that we can rely on the individual commitment of all the employees of the Equipment Division since everyone understands the need for these changes and has shown their desire to become fully involved.
Then we have new technical facilities like for example the ‘Pilot Hall’ with various specific pilot units, such as a sub-critical extraction unit, a rectification column and a still. Our service is specified case by case, depending on the needs expressed by our clients and partners. These new technical resources will enable us to offer still better support to our clients and help them make the right choices in the light of their technical or budgetary constraints.
For new players in a given market Tournaire can offer end-to-end support with services such as draft design studies, trials, design, manufacturing, commissioning, training, expert evaluation, maintenance, etc.
We are also developing new services so as to support our clients throughout the whole service life of their equipment installations: our service offering is now organized around 3 axes: Service Engineering; Support; After-sales.
We have support for this new strategy of the Equipment Division at the highest level of the company, for over the next three years Tournaire plans to invest more than three million euros and strengthen its technical and sales staff so as to reach the goals we have fixed.
